Waste Free Lunches

The middle school Global Issues Club put together a "Waste Free Lunch" display to share during parent-teacher conferences.

These amazing girls gave up their Wednesday evening AND came in early on their day off to help people learn about Waste Free Lunches.

It's all about publicity, right?

They set up a table with examples of Waste-Free Lunches and Waste-Ful Lunches...

 Waste FREE Lunches:
  • Reusable lunchbox
  • Cloth napkin
  • Silverware
  • Reusable containers for sandwiches and snacks
  • Reusable bottle for water, juice, coffee, etc.
  • Buy in bulk and carry individual servings in reusable container (i.e. chips)

Waste-FUL Lunches:
  • Brown bag or disposable plastic bag as a lunchbox
  • Paper napkin
  • Plastic utensils
  • Disposable/one-use containers: Ziploc bags, Saran wrap, aluminum foil
  • Juice boxes, small disposable containers of juice or water
  • Individually packaged snacks (i.e. tiny bags of chips, peanuts, crackers, etc.)

To learn more about Waste Free Lunches, check out the website or read the great informational pamphlet (it's actually really good!)

It was fun to see how excited they were to "spread the word" about their cause.  Unfortunately, most people stopped by the table because they thought it was a sale of some sort, but the girls also worked hard to recruit people to come check out the display.
